The Reds have been linked with [numerous midfield options](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/every-player-liverpool-transfer-rumours-21433837) in recent months in order to replace now Paris Saint-Germain ace Gini Wijnaldum.

This season the defensive midfielder has provided [one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcelo-brozovic/leistungsdaten/spieler/156617) in 10 appearances across all competitions – earning a [7.20 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/marcelo-brozovic/108800) from eight Serie A outings in the process.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £36million and in the final eight months of a contract in Italy ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcelo-brozovic/marktwertverlauf/spieler/156617)), signing a player of Brozovic’s quality for nothing would be a golden ticket for the Reds.

Still a top-class performer at the elite level, the combative Croatian would offer [strong support](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/87449/Show/Marcelo-Brozovic) alongside Fabinho in the Liverpool midfield.

Hailed as being amongst the [‘top three midfielders in the world’](https://www.fedenerazzurra.net/news/2019/9/10/little-is-said-or-written-about-him-but-marcelo-brozovic-is-among-top-three-midfielders-in-the-world) by Dinamo Zagreb coach Nenad Bjelica, landing Brozovic either for free or on a bargain fee in January would be an incredible coup.
