# Virals: Liverpool reject Napoli loan approach for Kostas Tsimikas

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/29/virals-liverpool-could-include-squad-player-in-move-for-adama-traore/) have reportedly rejected an approach from Napoli to sign [Kostas Tsimikas](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/05/virals-liverpool-outcast-konstantinos-tsimikas-on-inter-milan-wishlist/) on loan this summer.

The 25-year-old endured a difficult start to life on Merseyside following an £11.75million switch from Olympiakos last summer ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12046303/liverpool-sign-kostas-tsimikas-from-olympiakos-for-11-75m)).

Arriving to act as cover for Andy Robertson, injuries to Tsimikas and elsewhere in the defence meant the Greek international only managed [seven appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/konstantinos-tsimikas/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/338070) for the Reds.

According to [Rai journalist Ciro Venerato](https://www.areanapoli.it/calciomercato/rai---il-napoli-ha-chiamato-il-liverpool-per-tsimikas-lotta-contro-il-tempo-per-berge_426808.html) (via [AreaNapoli](https://www.areanapoli.it/calciomercato/rai---il-napoli-ha-chiamato-il-liverpool-per-tsimikas-lotta-contro-il-tempo-per-berge_426808.html)), as cited by [LFC Transfer Room](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom/status/1420401868447141892) on Twitter, Liverpool remain unwilling to sanction a temporary departure.

Tsimikas enjoyed a [stellar performance](https://www.sofascore.com/player/konstantinos-tsimikas/786259) during the international break back in  March as Greece faced Spain in a 2022 World Cup qualifier – underlining the ability the left-back possesses.

Capped on [nine occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/konstantinos-tsimikas/nationalmannschaft/spieler/338070/verein_id/3378) at senior level by the nation, the ace has also amassed over [100 club appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/konstantinos-tsimikas/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/338070) during a promising start to a career.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Given the [strenuous workload imparted on Robertson](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andrew-robertson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/234803) last season and during the summer with Scotland, allowing Tsimikas to leave on any terms would be a major oversight.

Chances may have been few and far between in 2020/21, but having [impressed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_8vyoKmcdA) in pre-season, another full campaign ahead and domestic cup action on the horizon, Jurgen Klopp will want options in every position.

Valued at £7.2million and under contract at Anfield until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/konstantinos-tsimikas/marktwertverlauf/spieler/338070)), the Greek defender will remain hopeful of a long and fruitful spell on Merseyside.
