# Virals: Liverpool reportedly interested in Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/05/pundits-praise-very-unique-liverpool-star-divock-origi/) are reportedly interested in signing highly-rated Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz.

The Reds have previously been [linked](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/fabian-ruiz-to-be-sold-at-napoli-liverpool-link) with the 25-year-old and could be about to reignite their pursuit amidst competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Ruiz has been in [outstanding form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/fabian-ruiz/784655) this season in Serie A and is believed to be ready for the next step in an impressive career to date.

That’s according to a report from [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/fabian-ruiz-nuevo-objetivo-agenda-liverpool-verano-20211205.html), as cited by [Football Talks & Updates](https://twitter.com/ftuReloaded) on Twitter.

The report claims Liverpool ‘want to sign’ the [15 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabian-ruiz/nationalmannschaft/spieler/350219/verein_id/3375) Spain international as Jurgen Klopp continues to look for a long-term Gini Wijnaldum replacement.

So far in 2021/22 the man once hailed as [‘spectacular’](https://www.goal.com/en/news/barca-boss-setien-admits-to-having-a-lot-of-affection-for/1r7xohdhgcz6t1r9olmspi7jlt) by Quique Setien has [scored five and added three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabian-ruiz/leistungsdaten/spieler/350219) in 18 appearances across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £40.5million and under contract in Naples until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabian-ruiz/marktwertverlauf/spieler/350219)), signing Ruiz would still represent an expensive outlay for the time being.

However, soon enough Napoli may fear losing their [Spanish enforcer](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/294193/Show/Fabi%C3%A1n-Ruiz) for nothing and will likely be willing to negotiate freely.

Having already suffered multiple injuries in the midfield department and with [Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) all over 30, adding another high-quality option has to be at the forefront of Klopp’s thoughts.

Already a [proven performer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabian-ruiz/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/350219) at the elite level, bringing Ruiz to Anfield would be a welcome addition.
