# Virals: Liverpool reportedly placed £84m bid for Federico Chiesa

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/14/virals-liverpool-discover-50-1m-price-tag-on-aurelien-tchouameni/) reportedly placed a record-breaking bid for Italy forward [Federico Chiesa](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/07/pundit-says-jurgen-klopp-must-daydream-about-signing-federico-chiesa/) this summer.

The Reds have been [heavily linked](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fans-make-federico-chiesa-21717409) with a move for the Juventus loanee in recent months and the speculation hasn’t yet subsided.

Arguably the [star performer](https://www.sofascore.com/player/federico-chiesa/845386) as the Azzurri lifted the European Championship trophy, Chiesa is a man in demand.

According to a report from Italian newspaper [Il Giornale](https://www.ilgiornale.it/news/sport/insigne-belotti-c-leuropeo-batte-cassa-1981941.html), as cited by [Liverpool FC News](https://twitter.com/LivEchoLFC) on Twitter, Liverpool attempting to break their transfer record to land the 23-year-old.

The report claims that Juventus rejected all forthcoming bids as their current stance is to keep the [35-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/federico-chiesa/nationalmannschaft/spieler/341092/verein_id/3376) ace at all costs.

Due to sign for the Old Lady on a [permanent basis](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/juventus-sign-chiesa-on-loan-from-fiorentina/s7cg9wzh3zm119nwhngrdp94) for €40million (£36million) at the end of this season, Liverpool and others could reignite their interest in 2022.

So far this season Chiesa, who was described as [‘potent’](https://metro.co.uk/2021/09/30/chelsea-champions-league-thomas-tuchel-federico-chiesa-15339696/) by Rio Ferdinand, has [scored twice and provided one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/federico-chiesa/leistungsdaten/spieler/341092) in seven appearances.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing [additional attacking options](https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/features/liverpool-intriguing-forward-transfer-alternatives-20566260) could be the next and most important phase of the evolution at Anfield.

Already [well-stocked](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) with talented youngsters in midfield and defensive departments, long-term replacements for Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in particular look to be important next decisions.

Given the relative [lack of spending](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/transfers/verein/31) at Liverpool during the summer, suggestions of an attempt to splash out £84million in [record expenditure](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/transferrekorde/verein/31) on one player seem farfetched.

Valued at £63million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/federico-chiesa/marktwertverlauf/spieler/341092)), Chiesa is an extensive target for the Reds, but one with all the quality and credentials to thrive in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
