# Virals: Liverpool reportedly ‘weighing up an offer’ for Declan Rice

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/02/virals-host-of-clubs-have-made-enquiries-about-taiwo-awoniyi/) are believed to be considering a sensational offer for West Ham star [Declan Rice](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/17/ian-mcgarry-says-liverpool-ask-to-be-kept-informed-on-declan-rice/).

The 22-year-old central midfielder has long since been the subject of major speculation as both Chelsea and Manchester United have [held a strong interest](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/declan-rice-west-ham-contract-chelsea-fc-manchester-united-b943606.html) in the Englishman’s services.

After reports on Thursday claimed the [21-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/leistungsdaten/spieler/357662) ace, currently with England at Euro 2020, had [refused two new deals](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jul/01/declan-rice-rejects-west-ham-contract-offers-chelsea-manchester-united-city-champions-league) at the London Stadium, speculation was once again rife.

Reputable club insider ExWHUemployee spoke of the news on [The West Ham Way podcast](https://www.patreon.com/posts/rice-update-53193277), as cited by [ThinkLFCTV](https://twitter.com/ThinkLFCTV/status/1410896314750091267) on Twitter and claimed the Reds could also be in the mix.

Echoing [reports](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/declan-rice-west-ham-transfer-20944818) elsewhere, Ex did state that the east London club were ‘determined’ to keep Rice, however, Liverpool are ‘weighing up an offer’.

During an overachieving 2020/21 for West Ham, Rice was at the forefront of the success as the combative midfield ace earned a [7.08 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/declan-rice/856714) across 32 Premier League outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £58.8million and under contract until at least 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/marktwertverlauf/spieler/357662)), David Moyes has previously [claimed](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/03/07/declan-rice-worth-far-100m-says-david-moyes/) it would take bids in excess of £100million to prize Rice away.

Recently [described](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/57462922) as ‘superb’ by Rio Ferdinand, the Englishman would certainly fill the void left by Gini Wijnaldum.

However, given the obvious [financial constraints](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfers-fsg-finances-news-18890271) in place at Anfield, any offer that would even tempt West Ham seems highly unlikely.
