# Virals: Liverpool ‘retain’ interest in Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/06/virals-liverpool-starlet-harvey-elliott-posts-promising-recovery-snap/) are reportedly still interested in a move for Torino defender [Gleison Bremer](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/25/liverpool-tipped-to-make-summer-move-for-gleison-bremer/).

The Reds have been linked with the Brazilian previously and the 24-year-old was one of those [candidates tipped](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfer-news-live-rumours-19541506) to solve the defensive crisis last season with a January arrival.

That move failed to materialise as Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies [arrived](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/01/liverpool-sign-ozan-kabak-and-ben-davies) instead on a deadline day double deal.

According to a report from [Fantacalcio](https://www.fantacalcio.it/calciomercato/ultime/05_10_2021/calciomercato-torino-bremer-non-rinnova-ce-un-altro-club-sotto-413366), as cited by [RumorsTransfersNews24/7](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers)on Twitter, Liverpool haven’t given up on the possibility.

The report claims that the [former Atlético Mineiro](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bremer/transfers/spieler/516716) star could be made available for transfer having decided against signing a new deal in Italy.

Bremer has made a strong start to the new season, [scoring once](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bremer/leistungsdaten/spieler/516716) in six Serie A appearances.

Signing another centre-back on the back of [Ibrahima Konate’s capture](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435628-liverpool-agree-deal-to-sign-ibrahima-konate-from-rb-leipzig) seems highly unlikely.

Despite being left bereft of options last term, successful [returns to fitness](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/van-dijk-gomez-matip-return-liverpool-squad-pre-season-camp/12m7vh7ikry0e1lvh2nr1quv0s) for Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk as well as keeping Nat Phillips look to have eased the need for additions.

Both Gomez and Matip are [under contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vergleich/spielervergleich/statistik) at Anfield until 2024 and Van Dijk recently signed a [new deal](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12380183/virgil-van-dijk-liverpool-defender-signs-new-contract-extension-until-2025) to stay until at least 2025.

For all of the above reasons, signing the £9million valued ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bremer/marktwertverlauf/spieler/516716)) Bremer seems unlikely.
