# Virals: Liverpool ‘set their sights’ on Italy winger Domenico Berardi

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/11/virals-liverpool-reportedly-have-34m-bid-rejected-for-saul-niguez/) are reportedly keen on Sassuolo winger [Domenico Berardi](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/29/virals-liverpool-target-domenico-berardi-gets-34-4m-price-tag/) this summer as Jurgen Klopp attempts to strengthen the attacking department at Anfield.

The 26-year-old Italian winger has caught the eye during the European Championships and could be set to play a leading role as [Italy meet England](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51198762) in the final at Wembley.

Following the tournament, the Reds may further their advances for the man once [hailed](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/everything-you-need-know-about-domenico-berardi) as a ‘great talent’, now described as a ‘major target’ for Klopp’s side.

The report claims Berardi is ‘tempted by the prospect’ of a move to Merseyside whilst also crediting AC Milan as well as [Premier League rivals](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) Tottenham and Leicester City with an interest.

Capped [16 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/177843/verein_id/3376) by the Azzuri, the left-footed ace has played all of his [senior career](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/177843) with the Serie A club nicknamed the Neroverdi.

Last season brought the best returns to date, scoring 17 goals and registering another eight assists in 30 league outings – earning an impressive [7.43 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/domenico-berardi/253367) in the process, the [fourth highest](https://www.sofascore.com/tournament/football/italy/serie-a/23) in the Italian top flight.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £31.5million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/177843)), prizing Berardi away would likely represent an expensive outlay for the Reds.

Albeit a player possessing undoubted quality, Klopp is relatively well-stocked in the right-wing department with Mohamed Salah the star and [adequate cover](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) in the shape of Harvey Elliott and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Capable of playing elsewhere across the frontline, the Italian ace has only [played a handful of games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/leistungsdaten/spieler/177843) away from a preferred role, perhaps suggesting the versatility isn’t quite as strong as required.

Any incoming [attacking option](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12213407/liverpools-summer-targets-who-could-jurgen-klopp-sign) would ideally be equally adept playing on either wing and as a central striker to offer maximum rest and rotation for the front three – something Berardi doesn’t offer.
