# Virals: Liverpool show ‘interest’ in Barcelona outcast Philippe Coutinho

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/20/jamie-carragher-lauds-out-of-this-world-liverpool-star-diogo-jota/) have once again been credited with an ‘interest’ in bringing Barcelona outcast [Philippe Coutinho](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/13/virals-liverpool-would-be-interested-in-shock-philippe-coutinho-deal/) back to the Premier League.

The 29-year-old was sold by the Reds for an eye-watering £142million in 2018 ([Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jan/06/philippe-coutinho-join-barcelona-142m-deal-liverpool)) following a superb five-year spell on Merseyside.

Dubbed the ‘little magician’ by an adoring Kop, Coutinho [scored 54 times and provided 45 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/80444) in 201 Liverpool appearances.

Having struggled to reach similar heights at the Catalan giants, a report from [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/), as cited by [Razio Barca](https://twitter.com/barcarazio) on Twitter has claimed a return could be on the cards.

The report states that the [63-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/nationalmannschaft/spieler/80444/verein_id/3439) ace’s agent ‘manages the interest of Liverpool’ as Barca look to offload the attacking midfielder.

So far this season Coutinho has [scored twice in 16 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/leistungsdaten/spieler/80444) across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £18million and under contract at the Camp Nou until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/marktwertverlauf/spieler/80444)), bringing the Brazilian back to Anfield would be an affordable venture.

Seemingly enjoying a run of fitness following a [barrage](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/verletzungen/spieler/80444) of injuries, Coutinho still has plenty to offer a club at the top level.

However, this Liverpool side has [moved on from the creative star](https://www.givemesport.com/1267654-jurgen-klopp-explains-why-liverpool-play-better-without-philippe-coutinho) and Jurgen Klopp would likely be looking towards players on an upwards trajectory as opposed to the opposite direction.
