# Virals: Liverpool star Fabinho returns to training ahead of EPL clash

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/25/virals-match-officials-confirmed-as-liverpool-welcome-chelsea-to-anfield/) have been handed an early boost in their preparations for an early-season showdown with Chelsea this weekend.

The Reds welcome the Blues to Anfield for an [evening kick-off on Saturday](https://www.skysports.com/liverpool-fixtures) with early Premier League title points already on the line.

Both sides are [tipped for a tilt](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/news/thomas-tuchel-chesea-title-challengers-21376323) at taking the trophy away from Manchester City this season and could make a statement on Merseyside with a victory.

[Two wins from two](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2021-22/men/fixtures-and-results) at the start of the campaign, Jurgen Klopp’s side have looked close to being back to their best this term and have been given a huge lift on Tuesday.

[Fabinho](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/20/virals-liverpool-midfielder-fabinho-set-to-miss-burnley-clash/) missed the [2-0 win over Burnley](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-burnley/446303) due to personal reasons having lost his father during the week.

Despite the recent tragic events, the 27-year-old Brazilian was [spotted back at work](https://twitter.com/LFCphoto/status/1430184218462674949) at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby.

The [15 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabinho/profil/spieler/225693) Brazil ace did feature on the opening day against Norwich City – coming off the bench for the [final 30 minutes](https://www.sofascore.com/player/fabinho/243585) at Carrow Road.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

This is huge news for Klopp’s side and ultimately Liverpool’s chances.

Chelsea are currently riding the crest of a wave and having [added powerful frontman Romelu Lukaku](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/12375524/romelu-lukaku-chelsea-break-club-transfer-record-to-re-sign-striker-from-inter-milan-for-97-5m) to their ranks present a genuine threat to a rejuvenated Reds’ backline.

However, the £54million valued defensive midfielder ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabinho/marktwertverlauf/spieler/225693)), has the wherewithal and ability to act as a barrier between defence and the service to the Belgian.

Missed immensely last season when [deputising](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/419700-jurgen-klopp-analyses-fabinho-s-form-at-centre-back) at centre-back, Fabinho’s presence at the base of any Liverpool midfield enhances the chances of three points no end.
