# Virals: Liverpool ‘still interested’ in Real Madrid star Federico Valverde

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/11/fans-critical-of-tactics-as-egypt-use-mohamed-salah-like-crouch/) are reportedly ‘still interested’ in signing Real Madrid midfielder [Federico Valverde](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/27/virals-liverpool-very-interested-in-real-madrid-star-federico-valverde/).

The 23-year-old has previously been [linked with a move](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition/status/1479355371139575809) to Anfield as Premier League rivals Manchester City also touted the Uruguayan.

However, a fresh report from Spanish outlet [El Nacional](https://www.elnacional.cat/ca/esports/klopp-ho-vol-va-rebutjar-una-vegada-al-liverpool-pel-reial-madrid-i-no-ho-fara-dos-perque-no-crei_693587_102.html) has claimed that the Reds are infatuated with the idea of bringing Valverde to Merseyside.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp is ‘completely obsessed’ with the [35-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/federico-valverde/nationalmannschaft/spieler/369081/verein_id/3449) ace and believes he would be the ‘perfect’ fit at Liverpool.

This season the former Deportive La Coruña loanee has earned a [6.90 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/federico-valverde/831808) from 16 La Liga outings – making only league 10 starts under Carlo Ancelotti.

Valued at £58.5million and under contract until 2027 at the Bernabeu ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/federico-valverde/marktwertverlauf/spieler/369081)), the report claims that Los Blancos would ‘listen to the offers’ with the Reds willing to reach £66million.

Predominantly a central midfielder, Valverde has also [shown impressive versatility](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/federico-valverde/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/369081) in a young career and could therefore be the ideal man to replace James Milner in the Anfield ranks.

Technically [gifted](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/344644/Show/Federico-Valverde) in both an attacking and defensive sense, it’s clear to see why Klopp would be an admirer as the German manager looks to solidify what has been a problem midfield department this season.

Not exactly the flavour of the month in Madrid, [Liverpool](https://www.givemesport.com/liverpool) should certainly be testing the water with a bid in the near future.
