# Virals: Liverpool striker Divock Origi is ‘likely’ to stay this summer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/02/virals-host-of-clubs-have-made-enquiries-about-taiwo-awoniyi/) forward [Divock Origi](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/03/origi-ready-to-leave-liverpool/) is reportedly ‘likely’ to stay at the club this summer unless offers are forthcoming.

The 26-year-old Belgian seemingly fell further down the pecking order last season as Jurgen Klopp chose to [utilise Diogo Jota](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/jota-impact-liverpool-similar-salah-klopp-headache-aldridge/1ixdq112s4wu9z9kenig0uy58) more often from the start.

This had led to speculation that Origi’s future may finally lie away from Anfield as the Reds look to [offload squad players](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-sell-11-players-millions-20264292) and the striker goes in search of more game time.

However, according to a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2684036/2021/07/01/liverpool-transfer-news-divock-origi-isnt-at-euro-2020-but-hes-likely-still-going-to-remain-on-merseyside/?source=emp_shared_article), as cited by [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1410856455645839364) on Twitter, remaining on Merseyside currently looks to be the favoured outcome.

The report cites Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah’s involvement in the [African Cup of Nations](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/caf-postpones-2022-africa-cup-of-nations-draw-due-to/licjz1m71bsw1qa7enbudb38c) and the difficult task of singing a replacement as two factors in the out of favour frontman staying put.

Despite once being [described](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/376747-jurgen-klopp-divock-origi-rotation-bournemouth-liverpool) as ‘so important’ to the side by Klopp, Origi made just [17 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/148368) across all competitions, scoring one goal in the Carabao Cup clash against Lincoln City.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £10.8millon and with just one year remaining on a contract at Anfield ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/148368)), this should be the window Liverpool desperately look to sell.

The mooted £15-20million demands are certainly reasonable, albeit perhaps Michael Edwards and co should be looking to [cut their losses](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/transfers/spieler/148368) somewhat.

Forever in Kopite hearts for some [magical moments](https://talksport.com/football/623953/liverpool-divock-origi-merseyside-derbies-forgotten-man-cult-hero/), unfortunately, Origi simply isn’t up to the standard required to drive the Reds forward.
