# Virals: Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino out for ‘at least’ two weeks

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/31/john-aldridge-urges-divock-origi-to-move-on-from-liverpool/) striker [Roberto Firmino](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/29/jurgen-klopp-confirms-injury-worry-for-roberto-firmino/) is expected to undergo ‘further assessment on a hamstring injury suffered against Chelsea over the weekend.

The Brazilian was [forced off before half-time](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/442115-roberto-firmino-injury-update-klopp-chelsea) at Anfield and had a scan to discover the extent of the issue on Monday.

Those results would appear to not be conclusive, however, and the [67 Premier League goal](https://www.premierleague.com/players/13511/Roberto-Firmino/overview) 29-year-old will now face more tests in order to establish a realistic time frame.

That’s according to a report from the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/roberto-firmino-injury-liverpool-update-21441408) and [Paul Joyce](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce/status/1432621501518331904) on Twitter.

The report claims Firmino will be absent for ‘at least’ a couple of weeks and the club will be striving to get their man back for the [start of the UEFA Champions League group stage](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2021-22/men/fixtures-and-results).

This blow comes on a [transfer deadline day](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12257542/summer-transfer-window-2021-when-does-it-open-news-dates-and-deadline-day) at the end of a window whereby the club has focussed on contract renewals as opposed to new signings.

So far the only [first-team signing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/transfers/verein/31) has come in the shape of central defender Ibrahima Konate, whilst Xhedan Shaqiri, Gini Wijnaldum and Harry Wilson all left the club on a permanent basis.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Any prolonged injury layoff has to be viewed as a major issue in the [attacking department](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) this season.

As things stand the Reds are now down to a front three of Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, backed up by the [relatively unproven](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/player-comparison) duo Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino.

Clearly, Firmino remains a [key part](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roberto-firmino/leistungsdaten/spieler/131789) of Jurgen Klopp’s plans and the German will hope to have the flamboyant Brazil ace back sooner rather than later.
