# Virals: Liverpool target Donyell Malen ‘given permission’ to discuss move

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/07/virals-jurgen-klopp-requests-three-summer-signings/) have seemingly ramped up the pursuit of PSV Eindhoven forward [Donyell Malen](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/05/virals-liverpool-target-donyell-malen-set-to-leave-psv-eindhoven/) in recent days.

Linked with the Dutchman since the start of the summer, [various reports](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/liverpool-imminent-deadline-donyell-malen-transfer-psv) have emerged suggesting a deal could be getting closer.

Any agreement to land the 22-year-old won’t come easy however, as for every mention of the Reds, soon follows [fellow admirers](https://www.football-oranje.com/liverpool-battling-borussia-dortmund-for-malen/) Borussia Dortmund.

According to a report from Dutch outlet [De Telegraaf](https://www.telegraaf.nl/), as cited by [The Anfield Talk](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldTalk/status/1412911726618681346) on Twitter, Malen has been given permission to talk to clubs over a summer move.

Elsewhere, *[Voetbal International](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWcs0A9fTAM&t=2s)* journalist Marco Timmer has claimed ‘there are negotiations going on’ between agent Mino Raiola and Liverpool.

[Described](https://www.footballinsider247.com/robinson-in-awe-of-malen-as-liverpool-enter-reported-talks-over-deal/) as ‘super quick’ by former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, the young Dutchman was on the [books of Arsenal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donyell-malen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/326029) as a youth prospect.

Malen was part of the [Netherlands’ squad](https://www.sofascore.com/player/donyell-malen/803039) at Euro 2020 after enjoying a superb 2020/21 campaign, netting [19 goals and adding another eight assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donyell-malen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/326029) in 32 Eredivisie outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Things could well be hotting up on the transfer front for the [13-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donyell-malen/nationalmannschaft/spieler/326029/verein_id/3379) ace, albeit the Anfield club don’t seem to have a free run at the capture.

Valued at £27million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donyell-malen/marktwertverlauf/spieler/326029)), whilst none of the advanced reports have named a figure, it has been [suggested previously](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1454803/Liverpool-Donyell-Malen-transfer-latest-update-news-SNT) it will take around £34million to strike a deal.

Capable of [playing across the frontline](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donyell-malen/leistungsdaten/spieler/326029) and having already proven to be a hit on the big stage, Jurgen Klopp should be pushing for this deal to bolster the attacking ranks.
