# Virals: Liverpool target Dusan Vlahovic rejects Fiorentina contract offer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/05/virals-journalist-claims-liverpool-are-in-talks-for-yves-bissouma/) were one of many clubs credited with holding an interest in Fiorentina striker [Dusan Vlahovic](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/10/fiorentina-50m-vlahovic-liverpool/) over the summer.

The 21-year-old frontman has been a revelation in Serie A since arriving from hometown club Partizan in 2018 for just £1.86million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dusan-vlahovic/transfers/spieler/357498)).

Vlahovic, who has drawn [comparisons](https://www.whoscored.com/Articles/EXsCqtnJS0OPeUOg1qbNjg/Show/Who-is-Dusan-Vlahovic-The-next-Ibrahimovic-linked-with-Man-Utd) to Zlatan Ibrahimovic owing to his towering stature, has attracted [interest](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/media-watch/438919-liverpool-target-dusan-vlahovic-scores-seven-in-45-minutes) from the Reds, Manchester City and Juventus previously.

Despite seemingly being close to extending a contract beyond its [current](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dusan-vlahovic/profil/spieler/357498) 2023 expiry, club president Rocco Commisso has [confirmed](https://football-italia.net/commisso-vlahovic-will-not-renew-with-fiorentina/) that negotiations have collapsed and no new deal with La Viola will be forthcoming.

> Dusan Vlahovic new contract talks have collapsed. Fiorentina president Commisso: “Vlahovic has not accepted our huge contract extension proposal. We’ve been trying for months, but it’s over”. 🟣🇷🇸 [#Vlahovic](https://twitter.com/hashtag/Vlahovic?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)\

Last season the [10-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dusan-vlahovic/nationalmannschaft/spieler/357498/verein_id/3438) Serbia star scored [21 goals and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dusan-vlahovic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/357498/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/IT1/verein/430) in 37 Serie A outings.

So far this term, Vlahovic has netted [six times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dusan-vlahovic/leistungsdaten/spieler/357498) in eight appearances – earning an eye-catching [7.03 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/dusan-vlahovic/832208) in the process.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing a centre-forward has often been a [topic](https://anfieldindex.com/49527/liverpool-target-a-striker-in-the-summer-transfer-window.html) on the lips of Kopites.

Having enjoyed the [fruits of Roberto Firmino as a false nine](https://www.sportsjoe.ie/football/roberto-firmino-the-world-class-false-nine-who-perfectly-complements-jurgen-klopp-153181#:~:text=Firmino%20is%20not%20your%20typical,have%20definitely%20benefited%20from%20this.&text=This%20is%20all%20the%20while,role%20than%20your%20stereotypical%20striker.) of a prolonged period, Jurgen Klopp has seemingly been reticent to turn to a more recognised striker.

Perhaps a slight transformation from the style currently in place, Vlahovic does possess [strong technical qualities](https://betweenthelines5638.wordpress.com/2021/04/03/dusan-vlahovic-scout-report/) as well as a dominant physical presence.

However, opportunities to sign a player of Vlahovic’s [prowess](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/315369/Show/Dusan-Vlahovic) and potential don’t present themselves too often and Liverpool would be wise to make their move.

[Valued at £36million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dusan-vlahovic/marktwertverlauf/spieler/357498) and in the final two years of a contract in Florence, the possibility of landing a major coup at a reduced price should appeal immensely to the Anfield club.
