# Virals: Liverpool target Franck Kessie ‘dragging his feet’ over future

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/11/pundit-praises-great-interaction-between-liverpool-duo/) target [Franck Kessie](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/31/virals-liverpool-make-very-interesting-franck-kessie-offer/) is reportedly ‘dragging his feet’ over deciding on an uncertain future.

The 25-year-old AC Milan star has been [perennially linked](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpools-very-interesting-offer-franck-22608941) with the Reds in recent months but it appears there could now be fierce competition for the capture.

Both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be keen on the defensive midfielder, with the [Spanish giants](https://www.skysports.com/la-liga-table) in ‘pole’ for the Ivory Coast international.

That’s according to a report from [Marca](https://www.marca.com/futbol/barcelona/2022/02/10/62050854ca47412a378b4571.html), as cited by [Sport Witness](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness/status/1491806653573832704) on Twitter.

The report claims that the [52-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/nationalmannschaft/spieler/294808/verein_id/3591) ace will evaluate options ahead of the summer as Milan try desperately to tie their man down further.

So far this season Kessie – described as [‘devastating’](https://www.milanlive.it/2021/03/03/milan-cassano-esalta-kessie-devastante-ricorda-toure/) by Antonio Cassano – has earned an impressive [7.15 average Sofascore rating](https://www.milanlive.it/2021/03/03/milan-cassano-esalta-kessie-devastante-ricorda-toure/) from 17 Serie A outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Still holding a market value of £43.2million despite a dwindling contract ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/franck-kessie/marktwertverlauf/spieler/294808)), signing the powerful Ivorian for free is a huge temptation for any top European club.

Despite being relatively [well-stocked](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) in the midfield department, Jurgen Klopp would almost certainly welcome a player of Kessie’s class into the ranks with open arms.

With both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain [out of contract](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-players-contracts-expiring-breaking-22586203) in 2023, James Milner likely to retire at the end of the season and Fabinho in need of an understudy, this is a golden opportunity to cover plenty of bases.
