# Virals: Liverpool target Nicolo Barella ‘considering future’

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/05/virals-liverpool-confirm-latest-fitness-update-ahead-of-bologna-friendly/) were reportedly keen on a sensational swoop for Inter Milan midfielder [Nicolo Barella](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/15/journalist-claims-nothing-going-on-between-liverpool-and-nicolo-barella/) earlier in the window.

Despite speculation seemingly fading away, the Reds were [clearly in admiration](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/nico-barella-liverpool-transfer-news-21112696) of the 24-year-old.

Now, the hopes could have received a boost as [finances in Italy come to the fore](https://www.forbes.com/sites/emmetgates/2021/05/03/inter-are-champions-of-italy-but-the-clubs-financial-issues-are-still-unresolved/) and star names reportedly consider their long-term futures at the San Siro.

That’s according to a report from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9872563/Romelu-Lukakus-98m-Chelsea-spark-Inter-Milan-exodus.html) and [Corriere della Salla](https://twitter.com/Corriere), as cited by [Transfer News Live](https://twitter.com/DeadlineDayLive) on Twitter,

This comes amidst financial uncertainty in Milan and the [impending transfer](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58130354) of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

Despite lifting the Serie A title last season, Inter have already [parted ways with manager Antonio Conte](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12317695/antonio-conte-leaves-inter-milan-by-mutual-consent-with-simone-inzaghi-set-to-replace-him) and more big-name departures could be set to further unsettle the squad.

Barella played a [major part](https://www.sofascore.com/player/nicolo-barella/363856) in a successful European Championships for Italy this summer following a [three-goal and 10 assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolo-barella/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/255942) league campaign in 2020/21.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

[Described](https://milanreports.com/2021/02/07/nicola-berti-milan-offer-barella/) as being a midfielder among the ‘top three in Europe’ by Italian international Nicola Berti, there can be little doubting the [29-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolo-barella/nationalmannschaft/spieler/255942/verein_id/3376) star’s ability.

Predominantly a box to box midfielder, Barella can also [play a more advanced role](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolo-barella/leistungsdaten/spieler/255942) and is an [expert passer](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/148684/Show/Nicol%C3%B2-Barella) from deeper positions.

As Jurgen Klopp goes in search of a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, any possible cut-price move for the £58.5million valued ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolo-barella/marktwertverlauf/spieler/255942)) man would be a no-brainer.
