# Virals: Liverpool target Otavio gets agent approval for move

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/05/virals-fabrizio-romano-claims-target-saul-niguez-could-leave-this-summer/) could have been handed a boost in the pursuit of FC Porto midfielder [Otavio](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/29/virals-liverpool-use-marko-grujic-in-offer-for-fc-porto-star/) this summer.

The 26-year-old Brazilian ace appears to be among the [leading Reds’ targets](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfers-otavio-kingsley-coman-20933912) as Jurgen Klopp goes in search of a Gini Wijnaldum replacement.

This comes as [reports](https://abola.pt/nnh/2021-07-04/fc-porto-liverpool-nao-desiste-de-otavio/896643) from Portugal claim Otavio has seen a release clause increase from £34million to £51.5million at the beginning of July.

Now, the star’s agent has seemingly sanctioned any approach from Liverpool, as quoted by [A Bola](https://abola.pt/) and cited [The Anfield Talk](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldTalk/status/1411828543630327810) on Twitter.

The report claims the [2020/21 Primeira Liga runners-u](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/portuguese-primeira-liga/table)p would now be willing to accept a ‘fair’ price for their man.

One other factor that could influence any deal is Porto’s [desire to sign Marko Grujic](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/marko-grujic-porto-liverpool-transfer-20411409) after the Serbian impressed on loan last season.

Otavio has been capped on [five occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/nationalmannschaft/spieler/231289/verein_id/37018) by Brazil at youth level and has become a mainstay in the Porto side since signing for £2.25million from Internacional back in 2014 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/transfers/spieler/231289)).

Barring a short loan spell at Vitoria Guimarães for the 2015/16 campaign, the Brazilian attacking midfielder has made [188 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/231289) for the Dragons, scoring 19 times and registering another 49 assists.

Whilst adding midfield numbers to the ranks is viewed by many as imperative, Otavio would be [far-flung](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/120608/Show/Ot%C3%A1vio) from a like for like replacement for Wijnaldum.

Predominantly an attack-minded midfielder, the [£21.6million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/marktwertverlauf/spieler/231289) ace is capable of playing in a [variety of positions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231289) across the park, including on either wing.

Perhaps more in the mould of Philippe Coutinho, Liverpool would [certainly benefit](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/carragher-claims-liverpool-need-sign-number-10-klopp-never-wanted) from the addition, albeit perhaps not the arrival many expect to replenish the missing Dutchman.
