# Virals: Liverpool target Renato Sanches ‘could leave’ Lille this summer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/06/virals-fc-porto-interested-in-liverpool-winger-harry-wilson/) have been heavily linked with a move for Lille midfielder [Renato Sanches](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/03/virals-journalist-claims-renato-sanches-to-liverpool-is-almost-done/) in recent days.

Fresh off the back of a [string of remarkable displays](https://www.sofascore.com/player/renato-sanches/318967) in Euro 2020 the Reds and Premier League rivals Arsenal have both taken a keen interest in the 23-year-old.

The Portuguese ace has seemingly been earmarked as a Gini Wijnaldum replacement as Jurgen Klopp looks to suitably replenish the [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) this summer.

Whilst many of the sources have been questionable, reputable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano took it upon himself when speaking to [The EyetoEye Podcast](https://eye2eyepodcast.buzzsprout.com/), as cited by [LFC Transfer Room](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom/status/1412386207976329218) on Twitter, to confirm the interest from Merseyside.

That mooted fee has since been altered to €30-35million in order to land the [30-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/nationalmannschaft/spieler/258027/verein_id/3300) star.

Elsewhere, Nicolo Schira has [reported](https://twitter.com/NicoSchira/status/1412389875505115137) that the Reds have ‘opened talks’ with the Ligue 1 club as speculation ramps up.

During 2020/21, Sanches earned an average [Sofascore rating of 6.90](https://www.sofascore.com/player/renato-sanches/318967) from 23 top-flight outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £27million and contracted until 2023 with the French champions ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/marktwertverlauf/spieler/258027)), the asking price represents excellent value for Liverpool.

Predominantly a box to box midfielder, Sanches is [capable of playing on either wing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/leistungsdaten/spieler/258027) as well as in a more advanced role.

The Portuguese ace has [reinvented himself and his career](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/renato-sanches-swansea-flop-portugal-24413223) after a troubled spell on loan at Swansea in 2017.

Possessing a [plethora of attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/299450/Show/Renato-Sanches) that make him the ideal purpose-built midfielder, Sanches does hold a worrying [injury record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/renato-sanches/verletzungen/spieler/258027) that would be of concern to Kopites.

That aside, given the age, finances and ability, added to Klopp’s [ability to improve players](https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/13-players-who-say-jurgen-klopp-improved-them-mane-reus-van-dijk/), this could be a deal made in heaven.
