# Virals: Liverpool target Youri Tielemans ‘keeping options open’

Leicester City midfielder [Youri Tielemans](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/13/virals-liverpool-target-youri-tielemans-reportedly-pressing-for-transfer/) and [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/15/virals-supporters-on-social-media-spot-possible-january-transfer-hint/) target is ‘keeping his options open’ amidst strong interest.

The Foxes are hoping to [tie down the Belgian midfielder](https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/breaking-leicester-tielemans-contract-manchester-5914760) to a new contract at the King Power Stadium as the Reds and Manchester United circle.

Despite being [under contract until 2023](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/profil/spieler/249565) in the Midlands, the 24-year-old has been subject to intense speculation over where his future may lie.

Speaking to [Sky Sports News](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11712/12407832/youri-tielemans-leicester-city-midfielder-keeping-options-open-regarding-future#), as cited by [Football Daily](https://twitter.com/footballdaily/status/1437752332486418432) on Twitter, Tielemans was non-committal over the next step.

The [44-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/nationalmannschaft/spieler/249565/verein_id/3382) Belgium international admitted: “I want to keep as many options as I can open.”

Last season, Tielemans scored [six and provided four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/249565/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/1003) whilst appearing in every Premier League game before netting a [stunning](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq8Wj8hvNLA) FA Cup final winner against Chelsea.

Described as a [‘top-class player’](https://onefootball.com/en/news/man-city-boss-guardiola-full-of-praise-for-leicester-pair-tielemans-ndidi-32701273) by Pep Guardiola, the attack-minded midfielder has already [found the net once](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/leistungsdaten/spieler/249565) this term.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £49.5million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/leistungsdaten/spieler/249565)), the fee to sign Tielemans could begin to lessen as the contract end approaches ever nearer.

Previously mooted at around [£64million](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/media-watch/437870-youri-tielemans-pushing-for-64m-move-to-liverpool-from-leicester) to prize the Belgian away, next summer that fee could fall into a far more affordable bracket.

Full of quality and already a [proven elite performer](https://www.premierleague.com/players/5865/Youri-Tielemans/stats) at the top level, Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp would no doubt jump at the chance to add Tielemans to the squad.
