# Virals: Liverpool target Youri Tielemans ‘ready’ for UCL step

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/21/virals-liverpool-interested-in-shock-raheem-sterling-reunion/) look to have been handed a boost in their pursuit of heavily linked Leicester City midfielder [Youri Tielemans](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/21/virals-liverpool-target-youri-tielemans-rejects-latest-contract-offer/).

Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp is still expected to find a long-term replacement for Gini Wijnaldum after the Dutchman [left the club](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57400206) in the summer.

Injuries to the likes of [Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Thiago](https://www.dailyadvent.com/gb/news/2729b9782a416c091b5901f96cf628ee-Thiago-Elliott-and-Keita-injuries-have-served-Curtis-Jones-his-chance-to-impress-on-a-platter-and-after-two-dazzling-displays-hes-shown-Jurgen-Klopp-that-Liverpools-third-midfield-spot-is-his-t) in the department, coupled with the reliance on an ageing James Milner means that the German manager will likely seek a fresh face.

According to a report from Belgian outlet [*Voetbal24*](https://www.voetbal24.be/news/73822/bij-n-van-deze-zes-europese-topclubs-speelt-tielemans-volgend-seizoen), as cited by [ThinkLFCTV](https://twitter.com/ThinkLFCTV) on Twitter, Liverpool are among six clubs hoping to sign the 24-year-old.

The report claims that Tielemans is ‘ready to take a step up next summer’ in order to play UEFA Champions League football – something the ace hasn’t done [since leaving](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/249565) AS Monaco.

Signed by the perennial nearly men in recent years for £35million ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11758227/youri-tielemans-leicester-sign-midfielder-from-monaco-for-club-record-40m)), the ace with a [‘wonderful football brain’](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12213328/youri-tielemans-is-now-leicester-citys-complete-midfielder-explains-his-manager-brendan-rodgers) has been superb for the Foxes.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Landing the [£49.50million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/marktwertverlauf/spieler/249565) Tielemans ahead of competition from Manchester United, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich would be a major coup.

Already an FA Cup final hero and an experienced international with [FIFA’s world-ranked number one](https://www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/men) national side, there are no questions whether the midfielder would make the grade at Anfield.

Seemingly [uncertain over his future](https://www.90min.com/posts/transfer-news-youri-tielemans-rejects-contract-offer-leicester-man-utd-liverpool-chelsea) beyond a contract until 2023, Liverpool should be at the very front of this particular queue.
