# Virals: Liverpool target Youri Tielemans ‘really wants’ Anfield switch

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/09/virals-harvey-elliott-signs-new-long-term-liverpool-contract/) are seemingly awash with central midfield options this summer when it comes to potential targets.

Linked with a range of names from [Saul Niguez, Renato Sanches and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfer-news-live-doku-20987668), a report in Belgium has claimed the Reds see [Youri Tielemans](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/15/liverpool-youri-tielemans-rumours/) as the ‘top target’.

The Leicester City star and [FA Cup final hero](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/youri-tielemans-goal-fa-cup-final-leicester-text-message-revealed-b935382.html) was touted with a potential Anfield switch early on in the window before the Belgian joined up with the national team for Euro 2020.

Now, according to a report from [Voetbal](https://www.voetbal24.be/news/tielemans-is-akkoord-en-maakt-zo-goed-als-zeker-supertransfer-van-75-miljoen), as cited by [The Anfield Talk](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldTalk/status/1413460726891663361) on Twitter, the 24-year-old is keen on making the transfer happen.

The report also states that it will take around £64million to land the [43-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/nationalmannschaft/spieler/249565/verein_id/3382) Belgian star.

Last season, Tielemans [scored six and registered another four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/249565) in 38 Premier League outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing a midfielder to replace Gini Wijnadlum has been the [story of the transfer window](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/5-midfielders-liverpool-could-sign-to-replace-gini-wijnaldum) so far from a Liverpool perspective.

Valued at £49.5million and under contract until 2023 at the King Power Stadium ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/marktwertverlauf/spieler/249565)), the man [hailed](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/tielemans-suit-liverpool-heskey-leicester-not-cheap/vur6o7ro17xf13qb7pxxn78ao) as a ‘fantastic player’ by Emile Heskey would add plenty of attacking quality to Klopp’s midfield ranks.

Signed from Monaco for £35million in 2019 ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11758227/youri-tielemans-leicester-sign-midfielder-from-monaco-for-club-record-40m)), Tielemans has proved to be a [huge hit](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/249565) for the Midlands club – making the mooted price tag no surprise.

Ultimately, the squad is in need of an additional midfielder and of all the aforementioned suggested targets, the Belgian ace certainly possesses the [proven Premier League quality](https://www.premierleague.com/players/5865/Youri-Tielemans/stats), albeit by far the most expensive outlay.
