# Virals: Liverpool target Youri Tielemans to make decision after Euro 2020

In recent weeks [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/10/virals-liverpool-unwilling-to-let-caoimhin-kelleher-leave-on-loan/) have been widely linked with what would be a sensational swoop for Leicester City star [Youri Tielemans](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/08/virals-journalist-expects-liverpool-target-youri-tielemans-to-move/) this summer.

Earmarked as a possible replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, the Belgian midfielder has [reportedly](https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20210525_97492581) been added to the list of targets by Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Currently away with the [Belgium national side](https://www.eurosport.com/football/euro-2020/2021/belgium-euro-2020-team-profile-now-or-never-for-roberto-martinezs-golden-generation_sto8346698/story.shtml) preparing for the Europan Championships, the 24-year-old could face an important decision over his future over the coming months.

Now, a fresh report from [Het Nieuwsblad](https://www.nieuwsblad.be/), as relayed by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-advantage-signing-players-entourage-remains-calm-decision-future-euros/) and cited by [Football Transfers](https://twitter.com/Transferzone00/status/1402862532042256395) on Twitter, has claimed Tielemans will wait until after the tournament to decide upon where his future lies.

> Twitter: ![🚨](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/1f6a8.svg) Liverpool haven’t made a concrete move for Youri Tielemans yet. He’ll only decide his future after the Euros.… https://t.co/wIHV2xqKQT (@Transferzone00)

The report states Liverpool are not the only club interested in the [39-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/nationalmannschaft/spieler/249565/verein_id/3382) ace, with the potential to attract more interest as Euro 2020 unfolds.

Having sat inside the top four for [much of the Premier League season](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/may/21/leicester-city-wait-liverpool-chelsea-champions-league), the Reds hold an ‘advantage of playing in the Champions League’ over the Foxes – although it’s claimed those close to Tielemans ‘remain calm’ over what the future holds.

During the 2020/21 campaign that ultimately saw Leicester finish fifth and win the FA Cup, the cultured midfielder [scored nine and registered six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/leistungsdaten/spieler/249565) in 51 appearances.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing Tielemans would be a significant statement of intent from the club – albeit an expensive one.

Valued at £49.5million and under contract in the Midlands until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/marktwertverlauf/spieler/249565)), Liverpool would likely be expected to pay in excess of £60million for the star.

Whilst that fee may seem excessive, given the [qualities already possessed](https://breakingthelines.com/player-analysis/player-analysis-youri-tielemans/), room for development and potential longevity, the Anfield club could still be landing themselves a bargain over the years.
