Both Gerrard and Fowler are hailed as Anfield icons having enjoyed long and [glittering careers](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/Profile/301) on Merseyside.

Owen meanwhile is a rather more tainted figure amongst Kopites, having left the club as a youngster having become the [youngest player](https://www.planetfootball.com/nostalgia/when-michael-owen-was-the-most-exciting-young-player-in-the-world/#:~:text=It%20wasn't%20by%20accident,Arsenal%20in%202001%2C%20his%20hat%2D) to reach 100 English top-flight goals.

If deserting the club with the world at his feet to [head for Real Madrid](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2004/aug/10/newsstory.sport6) wasn’t bad enough, the Chester-born striker [signed for Manchester United](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/211681-new-signingmanchester-united-has-signed-micheal-owen-on-free-transfer) later in his career.
