# Virals: Liverpool Twitter discusses possible Hall of Famers

Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer and Arsenal thoroughbred Thierry Henry have become the first two inductees into the [Premier League Hall of Fame](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12287196/alan-shearer-and-thierry-henry-the-first-inductees-into-premier-league-hall-of-fame) this week.

With [435 goals](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/all-time) between them and [three English top-flight titles](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vergleich/spielervergleich/statistik/def/spieler/3110&3207), the duo were always likely to be shoo-ins into the newly formed legends only area.

Unsurprisingly this has got fans of numerous fanbases talking, not only about who may be the next to feature, but who the[potential candidates could be](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/all-time) from each club.

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/04/26/otd-records-galore-as-liverpool-put-six-past-west-brom/) fans have been no exception and a discussion has begun on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom/status/1386650324123934722) regarding which Reds, past and present, could find their way into the Hall of Fame.

Steven Gerrard is perhaps the most popular name amongst the replies, despite [never winning the Premier League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/steven-gerrard/erfolge/spieler/3109) during his playing days. Having scored [120 goals in 504 appearances](https://www.premierleague.com/players/1575/Steven-Gerrard/stats) for the Reds, most of which as captain, Gerrard will surely be admitted.

Whilst Liverpool themselves have legends aplenty, few will likely wash when it comes to all-time league greats. The likes of James Milner, [Jordan Henderson and Jamie Carragher](https://www.lfchistory.net/Stats/PlayerAppearances) will be interesting names to keep an eye on as the Hall of Fame move forwards.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

The major bone of contention could be [Michael Owen](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/04/26/michael-owen-makes-bold-claim-about-mohamed-salah-and-sadio-mane/). Based on statistics and achievements alone, having become the [youngest player to reach 100 Premier League goals](https://www.planetfootball.com/nostalgia/when-michael-owen-was-the-most-exciting-young-player-in-the-world/#:~:text=It%20wasn't%20by%20accident,Arsenal%20in%202001%2C%20his%20hat%2D) it could be argued he would be fully deserving of a place.

However, given his quick getaway from Merseyside before pitching back up at [arch-rivals Manchester United](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michael-owen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/1397), very few Liverpool fans will be calling for the frontman to be included.

One striker who seems far more likely to receive full-backing is Robbie Fowler, or God, as he is affectionately known as by Kopites. The Toxteth ace netted [163 goals](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goals?se=-1) during his top-flight playing days and is almost certainly going to be considered in the not too distant future.
