# Virals: Liverpool use Marko Grujic in offer for FC Porto star

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/29/virals-liverpool-showing-an-interest-in-christoph-baumgartner/) are believed to have made an offer to sign FC Porto attaching midfielder [Otavio](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/28/virals-liverpool-reportedly-in-advanced-talks-to-sign-otavio/).

The Reds are in the market for additional [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) options this summer and the Brazilian has seemingly been earmarked as a leading candidate.

Eternal loanee Marko Grujic could be involved in any deal for the 26-year-old after [spending the 2020/21 campaign](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12096174/marko-grujic-liverpool-midfielder-joins-porto-on-loan) with the Liga NOS club.

According to a report from the main protagonists behind the potential deal, [A Bola](https://www.abola.pt/Nnh/Noticias/Ver/896012), as cited by [Anfield Effect](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEffect/status/1409858035292508161) on Twitter, an offer is now on the table.

The report once again gives a nod towards a €60million (£51.5million) release clause that becomes active in July, whilst also insisting the [Portuguese giants](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-porto/erfolge/verein/720) are ‘adamant’ in their desire to land the current €40million (£34.3million) fee.

During 2020/21, the [Brazilian youth international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/nationalmannschaft/spieler/231289/verein_id/37018) scored [five times and created another 12 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdaten/spieler/231289) in 42 appearances.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Using the [lesser-seen Grujic](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9667891/Porto-leading-race-sign-Liverpool-outcast-Marko-Grujic-15m-summer-deal.html) in a deal for a target makes an abundance of sense.

Since [joining the Reds](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marko-grujic/transfers/spieler/222813) in 2016, the Serbian has made just [16 outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marko-grujic/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/222813) for the club – a number superseded in one season in Portugal.

Meanwhile, Otavio’s [versatility](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/120608/Show/Ot%C3%A1vio) is almost certainly a huge factor in the apparent attraction.

Capable of playing in [almost every attacking position](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231289), the Brazilian is the perfect candidate to strengthen the squad at an affordable price.
