# Virals: Liverpool ‘very interested’ in Monaco starlet Aurelien Tchouameni

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/21/virals-liverpool-most-advanced-in-pursuit-of-robert-lewandowski/) are reported to be ‘very interested’ in signing AS Monaco midfielder [Aurelien Tchouameni](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/29/virals-liverpool-have-held-talks-to-sign-monaco-ace-aurelien-tchouameni/) ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old youngster is [highly regarded](https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/aurelien-tchouameni-chelsea-21-22-stats-midfielders-transfer-monaco/) on the continent and a host of Europe’s elite clubs are keen on making a swoop.

Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain [are in the mix](https://www.football365.com/news/monaco-price-aurelien-tchouameni-chelsea-manchester-united-real-madrid-interest) but it’s the Reds who are seemingly desperate to win the race.

That’s according to a report from French outlet [Foot Mercato](https://www.footmercato.net/a305254466685961025-mercato-monaco-ca-se-bouscule-pour-aurelien-tchouameni), as cited by [Transfer News Live](https://twitter.com/DeadlineDayLive/status/1505806638573309954) on Twitter.

So far this season Tchouameni – who was [described](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9975843/Paul-Pogba-heaps-praise-extraordinary-Manchester-United-target-Aurelien-Tchouameni.html) as ‘extraordinary’ by Paul Pogba – has [scored three times and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aurelien-tchouameni/leistungsdaten/spieler/413112) in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £36million and under contract in France until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aurelien-tchouameni/marktwertverlauf/spieler/413112)), signing the young midfielder for the mooted €50million (£42million) would be worthwhile expenditure.

Despite coping with the departure of Gini Wijnaldum seamlessly, one of the biggest blows when losing the Dutchman was replacing his [unmatched](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/talk-about-an-underrated-player-are-liverpool-already-regretting-/4xu2hveszvf41wbe786724puj) durability.

Having missed just [two matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aurelien-tchouameni/verletzungen/spieler/413112) through injury in a fledgeling career to date, Tchouameni would appear to have a similar availability to that of the ex-Reds favourite.

Capable of operating as a defensive midfielder as well as in a more advanced role, the talented Frenchman [has all the attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/353423/Show/Aur%C3%A9lien-Tchouam%C3%A9ni) required to be a huge asset in Klopp’s squad.
