# Virals: Liverpool ‘willing to pay’ £75m release clause for Jules Kounde

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/10/pundit-says-liverpool-need-to-sign-world-class-midfielder/) are reportedly ‘willing to pay’ the release clause required to sign Sevilla defender [Jules Kounde](https://www.givemesport.com/1806534-the-stupidest-red-card-ever-sevillas-jules-kounde-for-throwing-ball-at-jordi-albas-head).

The Reds have been [tentatively linked](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2021/04/25/jules-kounde-liverpool-transfer-urged-by-jurgen-klopp/) with a move for the 23-year-old previously and could now be set to step up their interest.

Pursued by Premier League rivals Chelsea during the summer, Kounde is hot property following a [rapid rise to prominence](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jules-kounde/827212) in La Liga.

According to a report from Spanish outlet [El Nacional,](https://www.elnacional.cat/ca/esports/klopp-pesca-sevilla-liverpool-executa-amenaca-monchi-desactivar_692702_102.html) as cited by [RumorsTransfersNews24/7](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers)on Twitter, Liverpool are now prepared to splash the cash on the Frenchman.

The report claims that the [seven-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jules-kounde/nationalmannschaft/spieler/411975/verein_id/3377) France ace is the ‘chosen one’ by Jurgen Klopp and the Anfield club are ‘considering’ meeting the €90million (£75million) mark.

This season the man once hailed as a [‘top player’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/la-liga-expert-delivers-bold-verdict-on-tottenham-potentially-signing-kounde/)by Kevin Campbell has [scored once and provided one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jules-kounde/leistungsdaten/spieler/411975) in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £54million and under contract in Seville until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jules-kounde/marktwertverlauf/spieler/411975)), signing Kounde for the mooted release clause would represent value for money.

Albeit the Reds are somewhat [awash with high quality](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) central defensive options, it’s currently hard to predict what the future holds for Joe Gomez in particular.

Possessing a [range of key attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/301019/Show/Jules-Kound%C3%A9) to be an elite operator, partnering the former FC Girondins Bordeaux starlet with compatriot Ibrahima Konate would see the Reds in impressive health for years to come.
