# Virals: Mixed reactions from onlookers as Liverpool prevail on penalties

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/23/liverpool-fans-applaud-naby-keita-masterclass-in-carabao-cup-victory/) capped off a memorable Anfield night with victory on penalties over Leicester City.

Despite trailing 3-1 at the break, a resounding crowd urged the Reds forward before goals from [Diogo Jota](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/20/simon-jordan-calls-for-an-end-to-afcon-madness/) and Takumi Minamino levelled the contest.

It was then left to Irish stopper Caoimhin Kelleher to [become the hero](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-analysis-mohamed-salah-anfield-22551864) as the 23-year-old saved two spot-kicks in the shootout.

Having been replaced on the hour mark, captain Jordan Henderson could only watch on as the [drama unfolded](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12502478/liverpool-3-3-leicester-5-4-pens).

However, the 31-year-old was quick to praise the goalkeeper on [social media](https://twitter.com/JHenderson/status/1473797312451428358) in the wake of the victory.

What a night.

That second-half display from the Reds was a [hugely impressive comeback](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59662105) in the circumstances.

An inexperienced side had [looked out of their depth for 45 minutes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuLaUsoomjw) before changes at the break transformed the whole contest.

Kopites won’t be too perturbed by [ex-Everton striker](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gary-lineker/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/22256) Lineker’s dismay either as it happens.
