# Virals: Mohamed Salah contract at ‘complicated negotiation’ stage

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/04/jamie-ohara-says-mohamed-salah-is-the-closest-thing-to-lionel-messi/) have reportedly reached a ‘complicated’ stage of negotiations regarding the new contract for [Mohamed Salah](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/04/virals-mohamed-salah-issues-premier-league-title-call-to-arms/).

The club have been attempting to tie the Egyptian down beyond a current deal that [expires](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/profil/spieler/148455) in 2023.

However, no agreement has yet been reached although there is [believed](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mohamed-salah-500k-wages-news-21489523) to be a desire from all parties to secure the new deal.

That’s according to a report from journalist David Maddock for the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/), as cited by [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1445148487520227329) on Twitter.

The report claims that discussions regarding the [69 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/nationalmannschaft/spieler/148455/verein_id/3672) ace’s new contract could ‘stretch into 2022’.

Salah has been in remarkable form this season and capped off the most recent stage of domestic action with a [wonder goal and assist](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yNnklW5HZU) as the Reds’ drew 2-2 with Manchester City.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Based on current [form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/mohamed-salah/159665), there is nobody more deserving of a lucrative new deal in world football.

The 29-year-old forward continues to defy belief and would appear to only now be [entering his prime](https://theathletic.com/2855880/2021/10/04/salah-is-in-a-class-of-his-own-liverpool-should-break-wage-structure-for-his-new-deal/) – a frightening proposition.

Albeit a possible breaking of the wage structure required, if anyone in the [current Liverpool squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) is worth it, it’s the ‘Egyptian King’.

Valued at £90million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/marktwertverlauf/spieler/148455)), it would potentially cost way beyond that fee to replace the superstar winger.
