# Virals: Multiple clubs interested in loan deal for Neco Williams

Multiple clubs are reportedly interested in taking [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/05/virals-brazilian-liverpool-trio-refuse-copa-america-participation/) youngster [Neco Williams](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/03/01/duel-pick-your-favourite-welshman-to-play-for-liverpool/) on loan next season.

The 20-year-old – currently away with Wales as part of the nation’s [Euro 2020 squad](https://lastwordonfootball.com/wp-admin/post-new.php) – is attracting plenty of domestic interest as sides begin to put players in place for the 2021/22 campaign.

According to a report from [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-liverpool-defender-wanted-loan-deal-norwich-burnley), as cited by [Anfield Effect](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEffect/status/1401179154259877892) on Twitter, the Reds have been asked about the possibility of taking the right-back on a temporary basis.

Williams is seen as a possible replacement for the [highly sought after](https://www.football365.com/news/tottenham-set-act-max-aarons-interest-30-million-bid) Max Aarons by newly-promoted Norwich.

The report also claims Jurgen Klopp is a [‘huge fan’](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-ajax-neco-williams-champions-19383550) of the young Welshman – underpinned by the faith often shown.

When regular right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was absent for a crucial UEFA Champions League group stage tie against Ajax, Williams deputised and provided the [all-important assist](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55134421) for Curtis Jones’ winning goal.

Overall during 2020/21, the [10-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/neco-williams/nationalmannschaft/spieler/503680/verein_id/3864) starlet made [14 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/neco-williams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/503680/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/31) in all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Whilst a loan move would be ideal for Williams’ development in order to obtain [regular first-team exposure](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/neco-williams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/503680) – the lack of a natural deputy for Alexander-Arnold would be a major concern.

After the Scouse full-back was [ruled out](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jun/03/englands-trent-alexander-arnold-ruled-out-of-euro-2020-with-thigh-injury) of the European Championships with a thigh injury, Klopp is unlikely to sanction the departure of the only recognised senior replacement.

Were a versatile option to come into the [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team), perhaps the £7.2million [valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/neco-williams/marktwertverlauf/spieler/503680#:~:text=Right%2DBack%22.-,With%20a%20market%20value%20of%20%C2%A37.20m%2C%20Neco%20Williams,players%20of%20the%20Premier%20League.) ace would be allowed to leave Anfield on a temporary loan move.
