# Virals: Naby Keita reportedly willing to leave Liverpool this summer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/22/virals-takumi-minamino-wanted-for-next-season/) midfielder [Naby Keita](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/18/virals-premier-league-duo-reportedly-show-interest-in-naby-keita/) is believed to be open to leaving Anfield this summer due to a breakdown in relations with manager Jurgen Klopp.

This season has been yet another of frustration for the Guinean central midfielder as injuries and fitness issues [prevent](https://www.sofascore.com/player/naby-keita/365772) any regular game time.

[Reportedly injured](https://twitter.com/LFCNigeria_/status/1395811343815544834) once again as the Reds head into their final day [top-four showdown](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) with Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, Keita and the club may already be considering the 26-year-old’s future on Merseyside.

According to a report from Spanish outlet [AS](https://as.com/futbol/2021/05/21/primera/1621612832_465277.html?m1=cG9ydGFkYV9wb3J0YWRh&m2=QUNUVUFMSURBRA%3D%3D&m3=MTA%3D&m4=bm9ybWFs&m5=MjE%3D) on Saturday, as cited by [The Anfield Buzz](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldBuzz/status/1396134184532520966) on Twitter, newly crowned La Liga champions Atletico Madrid could be in the running for the midfield ace.

Since arriving at Liverpool in 2018 from RB Leipzig, Keita has played [76 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/naby-keita/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/302215) for the Reds in all competitions – contributing seven goals and four assists in that time.

However, perhaps more tellingly, the [38-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/naby-keita/nationalmannschaft/spieler/302215/verein_id/3856) man has missed [54 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/naby-keita/verletzungen/spieler/302215) with various injury setbacks.

Despite arriving with [plenty of promise](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/amp/football/41075272) and at times showing exactly why – things just haven’t worked for Keita on Merseyside.

If there has been a strained relationship between player and manager then it’s more than likely arisen from that night in Madrid when the midfielder was [removed from the action before half-time](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/keita-substitution-liverpool-real-madrid-20332991) having endured a tough first half.

Valued at [£34.2million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/naby-keita/marktwertverlauf/spieler/302215) and under [contract until 2023](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/naby-keita/profil/spieler/302215), should Liverpool decide to sell there would be a desire to recoup plenty of cash on the talented star.
