# Virals: Nat Phillips ‘may well depart’ during summer transfer window

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/29/virals-liverpool-could-include-squad-player-in-move-for-adama-traore/) central defender [Nat Phillips](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/22/virals-bayer-leverkusen-interested-in-liverpool-hero-nat-phillips/) could be on the way out of Anfield this summer.

The 24-year-old emerged as an unlikely hero for Jurgen Klopp’s side as the Reds rallied to [finish third in the Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=363&ha=-1) in 2020/21.

However, the Bolton-born ace could be amongst the departures on Merseyside as the [club looks to raise funds](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-sell-11-players-millions-20264292) for potential incomings.

The report also cites [possible moves away for Xherdan Shaqiri](https://talksport.com/football/917093/xherdan-shaqiri-liverpool-transfer-agreement-italy-spain-lazio/), Neco Williams, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino whilst suggesting any incomings will be young prospects as opposed to established stars – ruling out deals for Saul Niguez, Youri Tielemans and Federico Chiesa.

Last season Phillips earned an average [Sofascore rating of 7.19](https://www.sofascore.com/player/nathaniel-phillips/920393) from 17 Premier League outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Perhaps most worryingly in recent days is the [various reports](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-transfers-jurgen-klopp-b1888974.html) seemingly suggesting further signings could be limited, if at all, this summer.

Having already [raised upwards of £30million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/transfers/verein/31) and with more still to come, many Kopites rightly expected the squad to be bolstered as a result in order to equip Klopp with the tools to challenge once again.

In terms of Phillips, in truth, the [defender’s stock will never be higher](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/marktwertverlauf/spieler/371814) and with opportunities likely to be in short supply this season, a move may suit all parties.

With an [asking price set at £15million](https://theathletic.com/news/liverpool-transfer-nat-phillips-latest/bOqVwpgFllsN) – the transfer kitty would be pushing the £70million mark before too long.
