# Virals: Neil Jones coy over potential deadline day ‘surprise’ transfer

Liverpool are yet to engage in the transfer deadline day festivities this time as Jurgen Klopp remains relaxed over the options within the Anfield squad.

In fact, nobody has followed [Ibrahima Konate through the arrivals door](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435628-liverpool-agree-deal-to-sign-ibrahima-konate-from-rb-leipzig) on Merseyside all summer as the Reds prepare to embark on their 2021/22 campaign with their returning key players back to fitness.

One factor that could potentially influence the ate decision making was the [injury suffered by Roberto Firmino](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/roberto-firmino-injury-liverpool-update-21441408) against Chelsea, with the Brazilian facing a spell on the sidelines.

However, reliable Liverpool correspondent, [Neil Jones](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/liverpool-transfer-deadline-day-origi-and-phillips-out-a/zgg6zex60kv1i3fdqgjtkz78), as cited by [LFC Transfer Room](https://twitter.com/LFCTransferRoom/status/1432671949558255616) on Twitter, couldn’t rule anything out but stopped short of predicting any panic signings at the club.

So far Liverpool have concentrated their business on their existing stars, securing the [long-term futures](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-squad-contract-expiry-dates-21228963) of Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.

Earlier today (Tuesday, August 31), there was yet further positivity as the club allayed fears surrounding captain Jordan Henderson as the 31-year-old [committed to the Reds](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/442265-jordan-henderson-signs-new-contract-with-liverpool-fc) for a further four years.

It seems any business in this window still hinges on the departure, or otherwise, of [Divock Origi](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/31/john-aldridge-urges-divock-origi-to-move-on-from-liverpool/).

Should the Belgian leave then the Reds may well be forced into something late in the market, a position the club would surely be [reticent to find themselves](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/smart-business-beginning-end-liverpools-16785646) in judging on previous activity.

Potential outgoings aside it seems as though Klopp will go into the campaign with almost the same squad that [lifted the Premier League title](https://www.premierleague.com/news/1697247) in 2019/20, plus the additions of Konate, Thiago, Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas.
