# Virals: Patson Daka reportedly ‘to be announced’ by Liverpool this week

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/08/virals-xherdan-shaqiri-will-leave-liverpool-this-summer/) have been named among the main protagonists in a move for Red Bull Salzburg sensation [Patson Daka](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/19/liverpool-target-patson-daka-reveals-special-anfield-moment/) for some time.

Seemingly [pursuing](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/chelsea-false-west-ham-liverpool-patson-daka-henry) the Zambian striker alongside West Ham, Arsenal, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs, the Reds could make the 22-year-old their second summer signing.

Following the confirmed [arrival of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435628-liverpool-agree-deal-to-sign-ibrahima-konate-from-rb-leipzig), the Anfield club could be about to make Daka their newest addition.

That’s according to a report from [The Zambian Observer](https://www.zambianobserver.com/liverpool-set-to-announce-patson-dakas-arrival-next-week/), as cited by [Anfield Effect](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEffect/status/1402214630722838531) on Twitter, claiming an announcement is imminent.

This is the second report in recent weeks to claim Liverpool are nearing a deal for the highly sought after ace after Spanish outlet [Todofichajes](https://www.todofichajes.com/daka-sera-el-proximo-en-fichar-por-el-liverpool/) first suggested the move was all but nailed on.

Interest, from Merseyside and elsewhere should come as no surprise following the [22-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/nationalmannschaft/spieler/365172/verein_id/3703) international’s superb 2020/21 campaign – consisting of [34 goals and 12 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/leistungsdaten/spieler/365172) in 42 appearances.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing Daka as a likely [Divock Origi replacement](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/liverpool-transfer-news-seven-exits-suggested-origi-shaqiri-karius) would be smart business from Liverpool this summer.

Currently valued at £19.8million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patson-daka/marktwertverlauf/spieler/365172)), any move for the Zambian would likely command in excess of that figure following his exploits over the last year.

Described as a ‘fantastic’ [player by his current coach Jesse Marsch](https://zambianfootball.co.zm/patson-daka-is-just-a-fantastic-player-salzburg-coach/zfadmin/), Daka looks to be ready to take the next step in what has been a promising career thus far.
