# Virals: PSV have ‘made an approach’ for Liverpool defender Nat Phillips

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/18/virals-liverpool-have-contacted-barcelona-defender-ronald-araujo/) have reportedly received an ‘approach’ for central defender [Nat Phillips](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/07/virals-epl-club-have-made-a-move-for-liverpool-defender-nat-phillips/) from PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutch Eredivisie [table toppers](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/dutch-eredivisie/table) are believed to have ‘joined the race’ to sign the 24-year-old alongside Watford and West Ham.

Having stepped into the breach when Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez were injured last season, Phillips has fallen down the [pecking order](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) once again at Anfield.

Expected to leave the club should worthwhile offers be forthcoming, a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-psv-make-approach-for-phillips-as-liverpool-asking-price-revealed/), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/footyinsider247/status/1483335001739517958), has claimed that PSV have thrown their hat into the ring.

The report claims that Liverpool have given the [former VfB Stuttgart loanee](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/371814) the ‘green light’ to leave Merseyside.

This season Phillips has made just [four appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/371814) for Jurgen Klopp’s side compared to [20 outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/371814/plus/0?saison=2020) last term.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £7.2million and under contract until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/marktwertverlauf/spieler/371814)), the Reds certainly hold a position of strength regarding the defender’s future.

However, having stood up to be counted last term and staying put for the first half of the current campaign, the club are [unlikely to stand in the Englishman’s way](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-phillips-next-club-klopp-25709793) should anything close to the £12-15million valuation arrive.

Already a [proven performer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/371814) at Premier League level and with added European experience, Phillips would be a superb capture for PSV or any other top club.
