# Virals: Rennes could be ‘forced to sell’ Liverpool target Jeremy Doku

French Ligue 1 club Rennes could reportedly be ‘forced to sell’ Belgian winger [Jeremy Doku](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/11/virals-journalist-claims-liverpool-want-to-open-talks-for-jeremy-doku/) this summer.

The 19-year-old sensation has been widely tipped to make the move to [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/27/virals-liverpool-still-interested-in-west-ham-forward-jarrod-bowen/) previously and was even [shown around Anfield](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jeremy-doku-liverpool-visit-sign-20962106) back in 2018.

Following an [eye-catching performance](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jeremy-doku/934386) for Belgium at Euro 2020, Doku appeared once again to be on the Reds’ radar.

According to French outlet [Jeunes Footeux](https://www.jeunesfooteux.com/Stade-Rennais-Jeremy-Doku-convoite-par-Liverpool-et-Tottenham-_a48777.html), as cited by [The Anfield Buzz](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldBuzz/status/1431224354520580097) on Twitter, Rennes may have to sell their exciting forward before Tuesday’s deadline.

Capped on [10 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremy-doku/nationalmannschaft/spieler/486049/verein_id/3382) at senior level by Belgium, Doku has already become an established first-team performer for both club and country.

Last season the starlet once described as a [‘diamond in the rough’](https://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/SportsArchive/He-s-a-rough-diamond-De-Bruyne-showers-praise-on-Jeremy-Doku-1056235) by Kevin de Bruyne [scored twice and registered three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremy-doku/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/486049) in 30 league outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Signing an additional attacking option this month may still hinge on the [continued Liverpool future](https://theathletic.co.uk/2785444/2021/08/26/divock-origis-future-is-very-much-still-up-in-the-air-though-his-place-in-liverpool-folklore-is-set-in-stone/?redirected=1), or otherwise, of Doku’s compatriot Divock Origi.

Capable of [operating across all three positions](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/388098/Show/J%C3%A9r%C3%A9my-Doku) in the frontline, the pace, direct style and dribbling of the Belgian would be a major asset to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Perhaps not quite the finished article, understandably given the ace’s tender years, paying £42.7million for raw talent isn’t in line with the [club’s mantra](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-spend-fsg-truth-19799643) in recent years.

Valued at £23.4million and under contract until 2025 in France ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeremy-doku/marktwertverlauf/spieler/486049)), the mooted asking price would represent relative value for money.
