# Virals: Serie A manager ‘really likes’ Liverpool star Divock Origi

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/24/pundit-claims-liverpool-defender-joe-gomez-needs-to-leave/) striker [Divock Origi](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/23/virals-serie-a-trio-probing-for-liverpool-striker-divock-origi/) is facing an uncertain future on Merseyside beyond the end of the current season.

The 26-year-old has been a continued peripheral figure for the Reds this season but produced yet another memorable [match-winning moment against Wolves](https://twitter.com/squawka/status/1467177478183702535?lang=en-GB) in December.

Despite making a [positive impact](https://www.sofascore.com/player/divock-origi/190399) when called upon, the Belgian could still move on in the summer and Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini is keen to take the frontman to Italy.

That’s according to a report from [Corriere Bergamo](https://bergamo.corriere.it/) (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/manager-really-likes-jurgen-klopp-favourite-summer-transfer-liverpool-situation-still-open/), claiming that the Serie A club are set to [reignite](https://twitter.com/DeadlineDayLive/status/1470689519620009985) a previous interest.

The report claims that Gasperini ‘really likes’ the [31-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/148368/verein_id/3382) ace after [TuttoMercatoWeb](https://sportwitness.co.uk/club-contacts-liverpool-players-agents-recent-weeks-perfect-substitute/) recently claimed that there had been ‘more contacts’ between the two clubs.

This season Origi has [scored five times and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdaten/spieler/148368) in 12 appearances across all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £10.8million and out of contract at the end of the season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/148368)), Liverpool could still trigger a one-year extension to retain the Belgian.

However, now entering the prime of a [crazy career](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/erfolge/spieler/148368) to date, Origi will surely be on the lookout for more regular first-team involvement.

In order to protect their asset, the Anfield club may [extend](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/355891-divock-origi-signs-new-liverpool-contract-confirmed) before negotiating with the likes of Atalanta regardless.

Whatever happens, it’s safe to say the [mercurial frontman](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/divock-origi-liverpool-cult-hero-22373814) will leave Merseyside as an iconic figure.
