# Virals: Southampton reportedly ‘keen’ to re-sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/09/virals-andy-robertson-positive-over-injury-diagnosis/) midfielder [Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/19/virals-west-ham-make-approach-for-alex-oxlade-chamberlain/) is reportedly a target for Southampton this summer.

The 27-year-old is a product of the [famed Saints academy](https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2011/jan/28/southampton-alex-oxlade-chamberlain) having made a debut for the South Coast club aged just 16.

Oxlade-Chamberlain went on to make [43 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/143424) for Southampton before making the switch to Arsenal in 2011.

Now, according to a report from [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/923646/southampton-want-re-sign-alex-oxlade-chamberlain-on-loan-liverpool-transfer-news/), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1424424660414894084), boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is looking to take the explosive ace back to St Mary’s.

The report claims that Southampton – who have also enquired over re-signing Takumi Minamino – are of the belief that the Reds are open to offers for the [35 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/nationalmannschaft/spieler/143424/verein_id/3299) England man.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made just [13 Premier League appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/143424/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/31) last season for Jurgen Klopp’s side – scoring once and adding one assist.

Ultimately [injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/verletzungen/spieler/143424) have unfortunately curtailed the Englishman’s progression on Merseyside having hit form following a £35million switch to Anfield ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41098529)).

Klopp has been experimenting with using ‘the Ox’ as a [false nine understudy](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9814191/Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlains-throw-Liverpool-dice.html) to Roberto Firmino during pre-season.

However, with West Ham also [reportedly](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-make-approach-to-sign-liverpool-star-oxlade-chamberlain-as-asking-price-revealed/) in the mix, should offers be forthcoming for the £16.2million valued ace ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-oxlade-chamberlain/marktwertverlauf/spieler/143424)), Liverpool would be wise to consider all possibilities.
