# Virals: Takumi Minamino scores amongst Japanese goal bonanza

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/03/31/virals-mateusz-musialowski-shows-off-his-footwork-in-training/)forward[Takumi Minamino](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/22/liverpool-plan-takumi-minamino-lucas-ocampos-swap-deal/)grabbed himself a goal whilst away on international duty with Japan this week, but he certainly wasn’t alone.

Since [signing from Red Bull Salzburg](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/11890345/takumi-minamino-liverpool-sign-red-bull-salzburg-midfielder) last January, the versatile Japanese attacker had struggled to hold down a regular place in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

It was the lack of game time that saw [Minamino be permitted to leave](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/12206041/liverpool-transfer-news-takumi-minamino-joins-southampton-on-six-month-loan) on loan on deadline day.

There’s no doubting Minamino’s quality, as he has [proven since arriving on the South Coast](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/leistungsdaten/spieler/165793).

However, what can be questioned is the forward’s suitability to Klopp’s style – with the [German himself admitting](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-transfer-minamino-origi-klopp-23430962)Divock Origi had previously been preferred due to his additional height.
