# Virals: Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn’t travelled to face FC Porto

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/27/virals-jurgen-klopp-confirms-new-captaincy-hierarchy-at-liverpool/) full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn’t travelled with the squad to face FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League.

The Reds have arrived in Portugal ahead of the [Group B](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/standings/) clash and will be looking to make it two wins from two in Estadio do Dragao.

However, they will have to do so without their influential right-back after the 22-year-old stayed behind following [training](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/444831-training-photos-liverpool-porto-champions-league) on Monday (September 27).

As reported by the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alexander-arnold-liverpool-news-breaking-21693434) and [Ian Doyle](https://twitter.com/IanDoyleSport/status/1442579657006718977) on Twitter, Alexander-Arnold had taken part in the final session before seemingly being ruled out.

Earlier, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had given the squad a [clean bill of health](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/444829-fc-porto-liverpool-team-news-champions-league) and admitted there was a decision to make regarding which player was left out of the travelling party.

The omission of the England man casts doubt over his involvement this weekend when [Manchester City arrive](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2021-22/men/fixtures-and-results) at Anfield.

So far this season the marauding full-back has assisted [three goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/trent-alexander-arnold/leistungsdaten/spieler/314353) in six outings.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Liverpool fans will be desperate for optimistic news on this.

Alexander-Arnold’s [importance](https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/trent-alexander-arnold-liverpool-england/) to Klopp’s side cannot be understated and any lengthy absence would be a huge blow.

Whether or not the ace would’ve started in Porto is up for debate as rotation was expected regardless – especially with a mouthwatering [Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) fixture up next.

Kopites will be hopeful this decision was nothing more than a precaution and either Neco Williams or [James Milner](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/20/garth-crooks-joins-plaudits-for-liverpool-giant-james-milner/) were already lined up to start.
