# Virals: Watford ‘adamant’ Liverpool target Ismaila Sarr is not for sale

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/18/virals-liverpool-stars-drawn-together-in-afcon-group-stages/) have been dealt a blow in any late pursuit of Watford winger [Ismaila Sarr](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/17/virals-liverpool-prepared-to-offer-40million-for-ismaila-sarr/) this summer.

The Reds have been credited with a long-standing admiration in the 23-year-old and were [reportedly](https://www.transfermarketweb.com/premier-league/premier-liverpool-still-interested-with-watford-s-winger-218084) lining up a late swoop with the Senegal international keen on the idea.

However, those reports now appear to have been wide of the mark as the Hornets issue a steadfast stance on their [prized asset](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-watford/marktwertanalyse/verein/1010).

That’s according to a fresh report from the [*Watford Observer*](https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/19520623.watford-adamant-ismaila-sarr-not-sale-amid-liverpool-link/), as cited by [WD18](https://twitter.com/WD18Fans/status/1427926134356905988) on Twitter, claiming that there is no desire from club or player to make a move happen.

Sarr played a pivotal role in helping Watford earn promotion back to the Premier League last season – scoring [13 goals and adding 10 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ismaila-sarr/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/410225) in 39 Championship outings.

The [34 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ismaila-sarr/nationalmannschaft/spieler/410225/verein_id/3499) star has also made a lively start to the new campaign with a [goal in a 3-2 victory](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ismaila-sarr/leistungsdaten/spieler/410225) over Aston Villa.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

We may never discover whether or not Liverpool were indeed [readying a £40million bid](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/liverpool-transfer-news-watfords-ismaila-sarr-keen-on-pound40million-move-to-anfield) for the versatile forward.

But one thing seems certain, there is a genuine interest from Anfield in the Watford ace, having seemingly been [close to making the signing](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-sign-forward-next-generation-21324903) last summer before landing Diogo Jota.

Capable of [playing across the frontline](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ismaila-sarr/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/410225), Sarr would represent the ideal backup in Jurgen Klopp’s squad despite being another likely to represent Senegal alongside Sadio Mane at AFCON in 2022.

Although a deal may be difficult, Liverpool would be wise to test the waters at a sensible price.
