# Virals: West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen on Liverpool ‘shortlist’

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/21/virals-liverpool-favourites-to-sign-lyon-star-houssem-aouar/) could make a surprise move for West Ham forward [Jarrod Bowen](https://readwestham.com/2021/04/16/alex-mcleish-says-opponents-would-rather-face-jarrod-bowen/) this summer.

The 24-year-old is said to be on the radar of the Reds should [Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/liverpool-readying-40m-watford-ismaila-sarr-bid-upgrade-origi-shaqiri) leave the club.

Jurgen Klopp is thought to be a ‘big fan’ of [Bowen](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322596/Show/Jarrod-Bowen) and could turn to the former Hull City star at some point, perhaps beyond this window.

That’s according to a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2708591/2021/07/21/transfer-news-liverpool-west-ham-bowen/), as cited by [James Pearce](https://twitter.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/1417781831848636417) on Twitter.

The report claims Liverpool see Bowen as a player boasting ‘massive potential’ and an option to provide ‘high calibre’ backup to the [attackers already in situ](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) on Merseyside.

Signed in January 2020 for £20million plus add ons ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51323082)), the Englishman has scored [nine times and added another 10 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/314875) in 54 outings for the Hammers.

Last season the man once [hailed](https://www.spreaker.com/user/skysports/hull-city-grant-mccann) as an ‘exceptional talent’ by former boss Grant McCann [netted eight and registered five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/314875/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/379) whilst appearing in all 38 Premier League games.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £27million and under contract until 2025 in east London ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/marktwertverlauf/spieler/314875)), signing Bowen would prove to be an expensive proposition for the Reds.

Predominantly featuring on the [right-hand side](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/leistungsdaten/spieler/314875) of a front three at West Ham, the [ex-Non League star](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jarrod-bowen/transfers/spieler/314875) would initially have to act as understudy to Mohamed Salah whilst potentially improving his versatility in order to feature more heavily.

A known admirer of a player with a [strong work ethic](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/march/08-march/jarrod-bowen-our-performance-levels-and-work-ethic-are-there), Klopp’s fondness of Bowen comes as little surprise and any move further down the line would be welcomed.
