# Virals: Wolves willing to listen to offers for Liverpool target Ruben Neves

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/26/virals-liverpool-cult-hero-divock-origi-attracting-european-interest/) have previously been heavily linked with Wolves midfielder [Ruben Neves](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/06/18/liverpool-linked-with-move-for-ruben-neves/) and could be set to reignite that interest this summer.

The Portuguese ace has been tipped to move on from Molineux in the wake of manager [Nuno Espirito Santos’ decision](https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/club/20210521-nuno-set-to-leave-wolves/) to leave the Midlands club.

Reds’ assistant boss Pep Lijnders has previously added fuel to the fire on the possibility of the 24-year-old heading to Anfield, admitting to [O Jogo](https://www.ojogo.pt/futebol/1a-liga/porto/noticias/a-estrela-do-fc-porto-e-a-mentalidade-da-equipa-avisa-o-adjunto-do-liverpool-10772955.html) a player of Neves’ ilk would be of ‘interest’ to the club.

Now, a fresh report from the [Express & Star](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/), as cited by [The Anfield Buzz](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldBuzz/status/1397259092608098312) on Twitter, has claimed Liverpool could be one of the side’s keen on the midfielder.

Capped [20 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruben-neves/leistungsdaten/spieler/225161/saison/) by Portugal, Neves has developed somewhat of a penchant for the spectacular since arriving from FC Porto for £15million in 2017 ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40513835)).

This season, the long-range specialist who was [hailed](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2020/exclusive-sylvain-deslandes-praises-ruben-neves-he-blew-everybodys-mind-with-the-science-behind-his-ball-placement/) as a ‘very, very talented player’ by Sylvain Deslandes, has scored [five goals and registered two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruben-neves/leistungsdaten/spieler/225161/saison/) in 40 appearances.

Liverpool have now a pre-existing relationship for landing big-name signings from Wolves, having [signed Diogo Jota](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54214671) last summer.

Whilst the arrival of Neves would bolster Klopp’s options no-end in midfield, shelling out £45million would be a [large chunk](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/klopp-unsure-about-liverpools-summer-transfer-budget/f6j0xmg4ehgxz9n52aso9rps) of the Reds’ likely summer budget.

Albeit a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum is a necessity, the midfield star is valued at exactly £45million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruben-neves/leistungsdaten/spieler/225161/saison/)) – meaning possible value for money – with central defence and forward areas also in need of strengthening, the funds could perhaps be better spent elsewhere.
