# Virgil van Dijk a major doubt for Leicester clash due to illness

Virgil van Dijk a major doubt for Liverpool’s clash with Leicester City on Wednesday as he’s yet to resume training due to illness.

As reported by [James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/virgil-van-dijk-liverpool-doubt-15745425), the Dutchman has not returned to full training this week after picking up an illness during last week’s trip to Dubai.

The Reds trained at Melwood on Monday evening but Van Dijk missed the session and as such, he’s now a big doubt for the game on Wednesday evening.

If the Dutchman is unable to feature, then Dejan Lovren will likely partner Joel Matip at centre-back as the Croatian has returned to full training following his hamstring injury.

Fabinho, who also missed a session in Dubai due to illness, is back in full training too and is likely to start the game at right-back as Liverpool are short of options because of injuries and suspension.
