# Warnock confident about Grujic signing

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has revealed he is confident about his chances of signing Marko Grujic on loan, despite late interest from Crystal Palace.

[As reported by the BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44963470), Warnock explained that he has spoken to the player, as he closes in on another loan move away from Anfield.

> I spoke to Marko yesterday, we are still optimistic, but we should know in the next few days. If he’s not staying there I think he will come to us, it all depends on the negotiations.

> There is a contract involved, but it will be resolved, I’m sure they will make a decision shortly.

Palace were [said to be interested in hijacking a deal](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2018/07/25/palace-make-late-bid-to-sign-grujic-on-loan/) for the Serbian, who now looks set to join Cardiff.

Hodgson is looking to add to his midfield, with moves for Grujic and Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater in mind.

Grujic spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff and did enough to leave a lasting impression on Warnock.

The Cardiff boss is still looking to add to his squad ahead of their return to the Premier League and has confirmed he has a contingency plan if the deal to sign Grujic falls through.
