# ‘We have 50 cameras’ – Virgil van Dijk savages VAR after penalty call against Liverpool

**Liverpool suffered their second Premier League defeat under Andoni Iraola as they were beaten 1- at Anfield by Arsenal.**

The Reds actually fared quite well on the night and were unlucky to come out on the losing side after such a spirited display.

Kai Havertz scored the game’s solitary goal from close range after a misplaced pass by Alisson Becker put Liverpool in a compromising position.

Shortly after his goal, there was a penalty call on Alexander Isak as he was prevented from getting to the ball due to a shirt tug.

And Virgil van Dijk feels his side were denied a stonewall penalty as he made his feelings on VAR abundantly clear.

## Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk slams VAR

“I think it was a clear penalty,” said the Dutchman via the [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/live/cqev37r8jvvxt#LiveReporting). “I’ve seen it back and I’ve seen it being given. Today it wasn’t meant to be.

“We have 50 cameras. Why does he have to complain when there are so many cameras?

“Everyone has seen it. In the end, it wasn’t given and we lost the game unfortunately, so well done to Arsenal.”

This is a hard one as we’ve seen these given. Maybe Isak was too honest for his own good by staying on his feet, but surely that was another questionable call against Liverpool that influenced the result of the game.

Arsenal deserved to win in the sense that they defended really well and kept it tight after scoring, but the rub of the green was well and truly against the Reds on the night.
