# Zakaria could be the perfect alternative to Partey for Liverpool

Liverpool remain interested in a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to [Sky Germany](https://sport.sky.de/fussball/artikel/gladbach-zakaria-ist-der-schluesselspieler-im-rose-system/11959387/35311), via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/great-temptation-liverpool-keen-to-sign-complete-footballer-club-need-immoral-offer-to-sanction-transfer/).

The 23-year-old is having an impressive season in Germany, with Manchester United also eyeing up a move for him.

Gladbach are reluctant to sell the Switzerland international, however, with his contract running until 2022.

With James Milner ageing and Adam Lallana leaving this summer, there is a need for new faces in Liverpool’s midfield.

While Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are strong options in the No.6 role, the latter is still, for me, better playing further forwards and more competition for the former could do no harm.

Zakaria has chipped in with [two goals and assists apiece](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/252419/Show/Denis-Zakaria) in the league this season, which is one more each than [Fabinho](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115916/Show/Fabinho), averaging the same number of tackles per game (2.1) and more interceptions (1.6 to 1.2).
