Jurgen Klopp’s side ran considerable riot last night at Anfield as Liverpool beat Man United two-nil in the first leg of their Europa League tie.
Louis van Gaal’s side were a shadow of what many expected from the Manchester club and never really got going at all – causing their opponents very few problems all evening.
Goals from Daniel Sturridge – a well placed penalty – and Roberto Firmino – a guided, close-range finish – gave the Reds the advantage they were looking for to take to Old Trafford next week.
In fairness, Klopp’s side can be a little aggrieved they don’t have a larger lead to take into the second leg given the number of chances they created.
David de Gea was the only shining light from a United team that looked devoid of any know how or confidence. He kept the scoreline respectable.
