Liverpool’s German scout, Matthias Hamann, watched both Timo Horn and Jonas Hector play for Cologne against Bayer Leverkusen last Sunday, according to reports.
The Merseysiders have reportedly been considering a move for both players and the Reds have now scouted them a number of times as they prepare to intensify their interest.
Jurgen Klopp is allegedly keen to strengthen his squad this summer, with a record amount of transfer kitty at his disposal to do so.
Matthias Hamann, brother of ex-Red Didi, has watched almost all of Cologne’s games this season to provide the club with the key information it needs to ponder a transfer for one or both players.
Jonas Hector has impressed heavily for club and country, making numerous appearances for Germany in the left-back position. He looks likely to be one of Joachim Low’s starting full backs in this summer’s Euro Championships.

Hector would, of course, provide brilliant competition for Alberto Moreno, a player many fans believe has struggled this season.
Another player on the fans’ hit list is Simon Mignolet. The Belgian is rarely devoid of any criticism and Klopp is reportedly prepared to purchase another goalkeeper to increase the competition for the number one spot.
Timo Horn has also impressed the club and Bundesliga watchers alike. At only 22, he has the time to develop on Merseyside. Klopp is said to be a fan.

With Adam Bogdan set to depart, Horn could provide the stiff competition Mignolet might require to put in some top level performances.
Horn has made over 130 appearances for Cologne in his career already, as well as four U21 caps for Germany.
Whilst heavy scouting isn’t always a sure-fire sign that clubs are going to buy players, the fact both Horn and Hector and young, German players naturally lends itself to interest from Jurgen Klopp.
He’s the master of buying young (often cheap) players and developing them. This could turn out to be another one of those scenarios.
