Liverpool’s new goalkeeper, Loris Karius, has hailed Jurgen Klopp as ‘one of the best managers in the world’ and has expressed his excitement at playing under him with his new club.
The German keeper, who has been capped at Under 21 level for Germany, will move to Anfield on the 1st of July after agreeing a £4.5million move from Bundesliga club Mainz earlier this month.
In an interview with Sport Bild, Karius spoke about how excited he was to be playing for Liverpool and how Klopp was a massive pull factor for him:
He was a big factor, because he is one of the best coaches in the world and has shown how well he brings young players forward.
Karius also talked about how unique Liverpool FC and it’s atmosphere at Anfield is;
But there is also the tradition of the club, the atmosphere, which is not so common in the world. And of course, such a transfer leaves you financially improved. All in all, it was the perfect total package.
The German keeper impressed hugely in the Bundesliga this season with his club, Mainz and established himself as one of the best keepers in the league.
Such an impressive season was always going to attract attention around Europe and Klopp was very keen to ensure Liverpool would be his new club.
Karius hopes that he can continue to impress whilst at his new club as he hopes to be selected by the German manager, Joachim Low, to represent his country at senior level.
He said:
I just have to cause a stir and make my job very well in Liverpool. If I succeed, I certainly hope that at some point the call from Low comes.
